The Liturgy Group has members from Templemore, Clonmore and Killea, who meet regularly in the McAuley Centre. It works with the priests to prepare the highpoints of the liturgical year – Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter. It organises services to commemorate some significant occasions in peoples’ lives. A service of Remembrance for families who have lost a loved one in the year is held in November. Families who have a baby baptised in the year are invited to Mass in June and receive a special blessing. On World Day for the Sick on 11th February, the group organises anointing of the sick at the morning Masses. The making of St. Brigid’s Crosses with various age groups is facilitated by some members for the feast-day.
It liaises with ministry groups involved in parish liturgies, e.g. Ministers of the Word, Ministers of the Eucharist, altar servers, choirs, sacristans and with schools. Two members of the Liturgy Group have responsibility for scheduling Ministers of the Eucharist and Ministers of the Word for week-end Masses
The group ensures that there is on-going formation and support for all liturgical ministers through talks and retreats. It is involved in publicising and organising prayer and scripture reflections.
There is continuous evaluation of liturgical celebrations to ensure that celebrations in the parish are meaningful and prayerful.
